💡 Worth Knowing

The U.S. Navy officially commissioned the USS Ted Stevens in Whittier on Saturday. Named for longtime Alaska senator and World War II veteran Ted Stevens, the new 500-foot guided-missile destroyer was the first Navy warship to visit Whittier in 80 years.

The ship carries several Alaska touches, including Alaska flags and two onboard boats named Denali and Kodiak.

🧱 Last Call for Town Square Park Bricks
Thousands of personalized bricks removed during the Town Square Park renovation are still waiting to be reunited with their owners. More than 60% remain unclaimed, and Oct. 10 is the final day to pick them up before the Municipality determines what to do with the remaining bricks.

An online search tool can help you find your brick using the inscription or original purchaser’s name.
