Weekly Roundup (Mar 24-29)
Hey Anchorage 👋
I drove through my first real puddle of the year yesterday, which can only mean we’re officially in breakup season. The snow is melting, roads are messy, and for the first time in a while it actually feels good to stand in the sun for a few minutes.
This week also marks a small shift for The Anchorage Local. I’m launching a Community Directory for Anchorage, a place for recurring events like trivia, karaoke, and open mics. Those will start living there so the weekly roundup can stay focused on what’s new each week.
Here’s what’s happening around town 👇
⭐ Top Picks of the Week
😂 B4uDie Comedy Festival — Multiple Venues (Mar 26–Apr 5)

🎬 “Shaped by Land” Film Screening — Anchorage Museum (Wed, 6:30PM)
This documentary follows one of Greenland’s only Inuit ski guides as he works toward a more sustainable, community-centered approach to ski tourism. The film offers a powerful look at identity, place, and connection to the land. A Q&A with the filmmakers follows the screening. Tickets
🎤 An Evening with Kevin Smith — Discovery Theatre (Thu–Fri, 7:30PM)
Filmmaker and comedian Kevin Smith, known for Clerks and the Jay and Silent Bob films, comes to Anchorage for a live Q&A-style show. Expect stories from his career, behind-the-scenes moments, and plenty of off-the-cuff humor from one of comedy’s most recognizable voices. Tickets
🐰 Easter at the Orchard — Boyer’s Orchard (Sun, 3PM)
Celebrate the start of spring at Boyer’s Orchard with an afternoon of family-friendly activities, vendors, and seasonal treats. Expect a puppet theater, Easter egg hunt, and hands-on crafts like ornament making. Tickets are $10 per child or $30 for families.

🧭 Community Directory (New)
Looking for something to do every week, not just this week?
I’m launching an Anchorage Community Directory with recurring events like trivia nights, open mics, dance classes, and other local groups. I’ll add more to it as I discover groups around Anchorage.
If there’s a community you love, reply and let me know. I’d love to add it.

That’s the week, Anchorage
Breakup season has arrived. Puddles, sun, and a reminder that we’re slowly making our way out of winter. Not the prettiest time of year, but we’ll take it.
If you spot something I should include, hit reply and let me know.
